  Health & Safety

Health and safety is one of RMT’s core values. Preventing accidents and injuries is not only in the best interest of RMT employees and subcontractors; it is also in the best interest of the company as a whole. To that end, health and safety is a core element in RMT’s project planning, supervision, daily implementation of projects, and the operation of its offices. RMT is committed to providing its employees with the training and resources needed to perform their roles in a safe manner. Employees are encouraged and empowered to take action or to seek guidance any time that a person’s health or safety may be in jeopardy.

RMT is committed to the following actions so that health and safety remains ingrained as a core value of the company:

  • Communicating RMT’s mission to conduct its business free of accidents and injuries while maintaining a culture where all employees believe that it is their responsibility to identify actual and potential hazards.
  • Providing appropriate levels of health and safety instruction for employees, subcontractors, and visitors prior to entering a job site and requiring that all consider health and safety as an essential consideration when performing any work or taking any action.
  • Maintaining channels for communication that encourage people to raise issues regarding safety and maintaining a culture that makes it safe to raise issues without recrimination.
  • Complying with all applicable health and safety laws, regulations and site specific plans by identifying those requirements and by performing regular behavior observations and compliance audits.
  • Making available to employees and subcontractors the necessary information, training, tools and equipment to execute their responsibilities in a safe manner.

We understand one cannot eliminate injuries by managing statistics better. We will work to improve our culture and our performance on all jobs in the field and in the office so that we achieve our goal of an accident-free workplace.

At RMT, safety is a never-changing value. In 2010, we launched a new Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) program—SAFE-T: Shaping Accident Free Environments – Together—to engage employees at all levels of the organization in identifying hazards and preventing injuries.
