The first step in GHG reporting is to understand your current energy and GHG footprint. RMT takes into account your current level of energy consumption, forms of energy utilized, impacts of existing energy efficiency programs, and resulting GHG emissions.
To comply with the new Mandatory Reporting Rule, certain actions need to be taken in 2009. RMT can assist you with:
Mandatory GHG Reporting Starts January 1, 2010
The stakes are high, the time is short, and the implications are great. Under a new USEPA rule, large emitters of GHG emissions are required to collect data starting January 1, 2010 and, this upcoming date requires certain actions already be taken in 2009. Under the new rule, suppliers of fossil fuels or industrial GHG's, manufacturers of vehicles and engines, and facilities that emit 25,000 metric tons or more of per year of GHG emissions are required to submit annual reports to the USEPA. It is estimated that 10,000 facilities - accounting for 85% of total U.S. GHG emissions - will be covered by the rule.
The applicability requirements are summarized in RMT's GHG Regulatory Update and a recent RMT GHG Reporting Rule webinar. Additional detail is also located on the USEPA's website.
